- Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area Strategic Assessment

The Queensland and Australian governments are working together to undertake a strategic assessment of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and the adjacent coastal zone. Have your say on the draft terms of reference.
- Queensland Coastal Plan

The Queensland Coastal Plan—State Planning Policy 3/11: Coastal Protection (SPP 3/11) has been suspended and replaced by the Coastal Protection State Planning Regulatory Provision (revised SPP 3/11 policies are included in the draft single SPP). The Queensland Coastal Plan—State Policy for Coastal Management remains in operation.
- Coastal management districts

New coastal management districts have been declared under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995. The new coastal management districts are effective from 3 February 2012.
- Reef Water Quality Protection Plan

The Queensland and Australian Governments have developed the Reef Water Quality Protection Plan to protect the Reef from land-based sources of diffuse pollution.
- Wave monitoring

Wave rider buoys transmit the wave heights measured from Queensland wave recording sites to radio receivers at shore stations.
